Get Your Technology Ready for a Funding Round

Get your technology ready for a funding round by showing how your systems, team and budget will deliver the growth plan. Assign owners to material risks and gather evidence before investors ask.

Connect technology to the funding case

Show investors what the new capital will help you deliver. Link each major product or technology milestone to the growth plan, the people needed and the budget. Make the dependencies clear.

Put five things in the data room

  • Architecture and roadmap: what runs today, what must change and who owns delivery.
  • Team and ownership: key roles, dependencies on individuals and a named person who can answer technical questions.
  • IP and licences: ownership of code and rights to the software you use.
  • Security and data: current controls, known gaps and the plan to address them.
  • Costs and technical debt: operating costs, planned investment and the work needed to keep the platform reliable as you grow.

Review the risks before diligence

Ask a senior technology leader to review the evidence as an investor would. Give each material issue an owner, a decision and a realistic date. Explain unresolved issues plainly; a credible plan is stronger than a claim that nothing needs attention.

Keep delivery moving during the raise

Fundraising can absorb the leadership team. Give one person responsibility for investor questions while the delivery team keeps its priorities. Fractional or interim technology leadership can cover that role when you do not need a full-time CTO. See our investment-readiness service for the assessment and support we provide.

Frequently asked questions

When should we start preparing the technology evidence?

Start before diligence begins. Gather the roadmap, ownership, IP, security and cost evidence early enough to investigate gaps and assign the work.

Do we need a full-time CTO to raise funding?

You need someone accountable who can explain the technology plan and answer investor questions. That may be a full-time, fractional or interim technology leader, depending on your stage and the work ahead.

What if we have unresolved technical issues?

Record the issue, its business impact, owner, next decision and expected cost or timing. Investors can assess a known risk with a credible plan.
