What an AI readiness assessment is

An AI readiness assessment is a short, practical review that finds where AI is worth doing in your business, and whether your data, governance, skills and security are ready to do it — before you spend money.

The underlying question is simple: where will AI make or save money, reduce risk, or materially improve how the business runs? Everything else is secondary.

Who it's for

Founder-led businesses feeling AI pressure from the board or the market, who want a grounded answer rather than a tool in search of a problem.

What we assess

  • Data readiness — is your data good enough to build on?
  • Use cases — discovered and prioritised by value and effort.
  • Governance and policy — how you adopt AI responsibly.
  • Security — including private/local AI where sensitive.
  • Skills and suppliers — what you need, and who to trust.
  • ROI — where the money actually is.

What you get

A readiness verdict, a shortlist of prioritised use cases with expected value and effort, and a practical implementation roadmap. Start smaller with an AI Opportunity Review if you just need the use-case shortlist.

Fractional Chief AI Officer (CAIO)

For when the board wants an AI strategy and no one owns it: ongoing AI leadership, governance and delivery oversight on a fractional basis — the same days-per-month model as our fractional CTO.

If the strategy is set but day-to-day use has no owner, see our AI Responsibility Officer service.

Common questions

Is my business ready for AI?

That's exactly what the assessment answers — across data, governance, skills and security — with a clear verdict and the use cases worth starting with.

How much does an AI project cost?

It depends entirely on the use case. The review gives each opportunity an expected value and effort, so you can judge ROI before committing to a build.

Do you sell an AI platform?

No. We're independent and vendor-neutral — we recommend what fits, including private/local AI, and we don't sell the tools.
